Tim Wilson joins the Executive Committee

Tim was born in 1950. He read Classical Moderations and English at Corpus Christi College and, after spells at the National Maritime Museum and the British Museum, returned to Oxford in 1990 as Keeper of the Department of Western Art in the Ashmolean Museum. He is a historian of the applied arts and sculpture of the European Renaissance and more recent periods, especially the painted Italian pottery known as maiolica. His latest book “Italian Maiolica and Europe” will be published by the Ashmolean this spring. He retired from the Ashmolean in January 2017.

Tim was a Trustee of the Oxford Preservation Trust from 2006 to 2016 and is a Trustee of the Radcliffe Trust; he was for some years the Chairman of Foxcan, the organizaion dedicated to the partial recreation of the Oxford Canal Basin (now covered by the Worcester Street Car Park). He is an Emeritus Fellow of Balliol.

He is married to Jane, with three children who have been educated at various Oxford schools, and lives in Old Marston.
