A Walk on the Welsh Side

Saturday 1st March at 2pm
Ticket price £8

A walk of about 90 minutes in Oxford city centre on St David’s Day. Led by Mark Davies, renowned local historian, the theme of Welsh influence on Oxford will take us from pre-Roman history to the 20th century, with reference to ‘sons of Cambria’ such as Geoffrey of Monmouth, Gerald of Wales, T. E. Lawrence, Dylan Thomas, and an incalculable number of Joneses. Expect tales of ‘rough and adventurous relaxations’, of dragons, marvels, and monstrosities, and even a Red Herring!

Starting in Pembroke Square, the walk will end in the grounds of Magdalen College.
