Ex-Chairman Awarded Certificate of Honour
Peter Thompson recognised for his contribution to Oxford Civic Society
20 June 2017
At an awards ceremony at the Town Hall on 19 June Peter Thompson was awarded a Certificate of Honour by the City of Oxford. Peter was Chairman of Oxford Civic Society for seven years until he retired at the AGM in March this year.
Peter received his Certificate from Councillor Altaf Khan, Sheriff of Oxford, who said, “Peter has made himself a challenging but respected presence in the life of our local organisations; councils and other public bodies, and others such as the Oxford Preservation Trust and the Oxford Pedestrians Association. He has given huge encouragement and support to the groups of Oxford Civic Society that do the detailed work on everything from planning applications to our litter problem. Above all he has challenged all of us to think hard about the future, whether of a single neighbourhood or the whole city-region with Oxford at its heart.”
