Formation of balustrade guarding to the front elevation balcony. Alterations to 2no windows and 1no. door to front elevation. Insertion of 1no. rooflights to side elevation.

The internal alterations planned are fully justified and improve this dwelling.  The rooflights to the side elevation are fine.  However, the plan to change the format of the main bedroom’s windows and to make the balcony in front of them accessible does compromise the street frontage of this property, given its current pleasant period appearance in a Conservation Area: the new window frames should match the present, sashed ones (so no door out is possible) and the planned glass safety balcony, which would look rather odd added as it is to the area-and-period-characteristic-balcony, would then be redundant anyway.
