 Alteration and refurbishment of the McGowin Library, including a small extension to the front and an additional storey. New openings formed to create a connection into the adjacent East Range of Old Quad (paving, landscaping and lighting) to provide a new entrance to the Almshouse and Master’s Lodgings.

Oxford Civic Society attended a presentation of the plans for the new library and were shown the existing building and its surroundings. We consider that the scheme makes excellent use of the site and greatly improves the approach to the Master’s Lodgings and the area in front of the library. We support the application.
