Formation of 2no. entrance doors to create lobby access to side elevation, Formation of 1no. dormer and 1no. rooflight to rear roofslope and erection of a three storey bay window extension with juliette balcony to side elevation.

In general the proposed changes to the Marlborough Road frontage are a great improvement on this section of the original refurbishment of the building with the introduction of bay windows in the ground and first floors. The proposal at second floor level above the bay windows for a gable in the roof, a juliette window and small balcony, with what appears to be a glass balustrade, introduces 3 entirely new elements to the building. They all contrast with the second floor bay window in the original building to the left and the horizontal lines above the first floor windows in the refurbished building to the right. We believe this unacceptable and unnecessary. The bay window design should be continued to the second floor making a coherent design. It will have the additional benefit of increasing the light in the bedroom and permitting natural ventilation of the room for a much greater period of the year. We strongly believe this part of the application should be changed before approval.
