Conversion of an existing garage to form a 1 x 1-bed dwelling (Use Class C3). Provision of private amenity space, car parking and bin and cycle storage.

This application is essentially similar to an application (15/01896) made in June 2015 that was rejected by OCC in August 2015. On appeal the inspector in March 2016 upheld the OCC’s decision. The current application, although for a single bedroom dwelling rather than a 2 bed dwelling, has all the problems detailed in paragraphs 5 to 10 of the inspector’s decision. The current application is also opposed by the Highway Authority, which recommends rejection because the backland dwelling will increase problems with parking in the area. The Oxford Civic Society believes that the application should be rejected.
