We object to the siting of this call box. No evidence is provided that there is any significant need for such a facility at this location. Hythe Bridge Street is already of inadequate width to accommodate the heavy motor vehicle traffic flows, proper provision for cycling, and the large numbers of pedestrians accessing the station. A call box here would cause serious obstruction and would constitute visual clutter. The area between Hythe Bridge and Park End Streets is due for major re-development in the near future, and it would be inappropriate to compromise the possibilities for much-needed improvement of the street scene by the installation of a call box of no proven value at this location.
